Thomas Kirton
Thomas began his career in insurance litigation with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia in 2016. In 2024, he earned his Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, further solidifying his expertise in the field. He has also completed the National Introductory Mediation Course (NIMC) through ADR BC.

Mediation marks Thomas’ third career. He initially worked as a geologist in a remote mining community in Northern Ontario before transitioning into insurance, where he specialized in resolving personal injury claims with the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Throughout his tenure at ICBC, he successfully resolved over 1,000 personal injury claims, gaining extensive experience in claim evaluation, negotiation, and resolution.

In 2025, Thomas founded WTK Mediations, where he has since found success helping parties navigate disputes and reach practical, mutually acceptable resolutions. Drawing on his litigation and claims background, he is particularly effective at identifying common ground, managing risk, and guiding parties toward efficient outcomes.

With a diverse professional background, Thomas brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to the mediation process. His commitment to fairness, combined with his ability to navigate complex disputes, makes him a valuable asset in achieving equitable resolutions for all parties involved.

Kara Collins
Kara is a seasoned mediator based in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland, bringing over 30 years of experience in personal injury and motor vehicle claim assessment. Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous personal injury mediations, representing defense perspectives. Her pragmatic, thoughtful, and solutions-focused approach has contributed to the effective resolution of countless bodily injury cases.
Kara has been with ICBC for nearly 35 years, with three decades dedicated to litigation management, including leadership roles as a litigation manager. Her extensive experience has honed her ability to assess risk and negotiate resolutions that balance fairness and equity. She currently serves as a Manager in the Claims Injury and Legal department at ICBC. Due to this role, she is unable to mediate matters involving ICBC.
In 2022, Kara earned her Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation, with a focus on insurance law across various sectors. Most recently, she completed the National Introductory Mediation Course (NIMC) through ADR BC.
Outside of her professional life, Kara enjoys camping, walking/hiking, reading, traveling, and going on motorcycle adventures with her husband. She values time spent with friends and family, including her four adult children and grandson.
